First Steps

If you have been recently diagnosed at a non-hospital setting, or are returning or coming from abroad, you will need to be referred to an HIV clinic in a hospital. This can be done by your general practitioner (GP) or a health agency. It is important to bring to your first appointment any relevant documentation in relation to your diagnosis and information on the current treatment to ensure continuity of care.  If you were diagnosed in an HIV Clinic, staff will talk to you about arranging your ongoing appointments.
