The Flash! PrEP in Europe online survey took place simultaneously in 12 European countries from the 15th of June to the 15th of July 2016.

HIV Ireland was the key partner involved in the promotion of the online survey in Ireland.  HIV Ireland would like to thank also the organisations that supported the promotion of this online survey in Ireland including the HSE Sexual Health and Crisis Pregnancy Programme, the Gay Men’s Health Service, the GUIDE Clinic – St. James’s Hospital, the Gay Health Network, Gay Switchboard Ireland, Outhouse LGBT Community Centre, Panti Bliss, BeLonG To Youth Service, theOutmost.com, KnowNow, AIDS West, GOSHH, Sex Workers Alliance Ireland, Ugly Mugs Ireland, Drugs.ie, the Ana Liffey Drugs Project, and the North Dublin Regional Drugs and Alcohol Task Force.

The goal of this research was to better understand knowledge, attitudes towards, willingness to take and current use of PrEP across Europe to inform sexual health policy making.

Most respondents were recruited thanks to advertising and promotion on dating apps/websites, Facebook® and Twitter®, the pages of NGOs involved in the project, websites with LGBTI audience and distribution of cards and flyers during regular activities.

The preliminary results were released on World AIDS Day 2016 (1st December) and present the first results of the survey at the European level.
