This education and training aims to provide participants with basic up-to-date and relevant information on HIV including trends in HIV diagnoses, HIV transmission, prevention, testing and treatment.

Who is the training for?

This education and training will be beneficial to people working across a range of services including Sexual Health Workers, Health Advisers, Drug Service Providers, LGBT Services, Mental Health Practitioners, Housing/Homeless Services, Migrant Services, GPs, Counsellors, Social Workers, Nurses, and other professionals who may work with people living with, or at risk of, HIV.

Training Programme Content:

We now have the tools to end new HIV transmissions in Ireland (and globally), and this education and training aims to increase participants’ knowledge and awareness of this, including:

  • HIV in Ireland and current trends in HIV diagnoses.
  • HIV transmission.
  • Prevention and ending transmissions.
  • Testing and Treatment.
  • Treatment as Prevention.
  • PEP and PrEP.
  • Viral Loads and U=U.
  • Fast Track Cities.
  • Services, Support and Resources.

Length of Training:

This is a half-day training programme, approx. 3½ hours in duration.

Booking Fee:

Booking fees have unfortunately become necessary due to high levels of non-attendance on our ‘free’ training programmes, and ever-increasing waiting lists.  The booking fee will be reimbursed to the credit/debit card used for payment.on the day of the training to all those who attend. Those who fail to attend will forfeit the fee.  Reimbursement will also be made to those who cancel up to 7 days prior to the training.

CPD Credits: A certificate of attendance detailing the number of hours education and training completed is provided to each participant.  You can apply to your own accrediting associations and organisations for CPD credits, if applicable.
